Grand Circle Island with Dole Plantation

Get to know Hawaii from the inside out with an all-day tour that circles the entire island, covering 120 miles of Oahu’s best sightseeing spots. For a close-up view of a seawater eruption, you’ll visit Hawaii’s own Old Faithful known as the “Blow Hole,” where you’ll witness oceanside water play at full-force. Besides Sandy Beach - a favorite for body surfers, you’ll venture to the most celebrated surfing zones in the world along the North Shore - Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and the spectacular Banzai Pipeline.  At Dole Plantation you will ride the Pineapple Express Train and learn about the history of Hawaii’s pineapple industry.  You may choose between a stroll through plantation gardens or test your skill at the Pineapple Garden Maze.  In colorful contrast to the brilliant blue of the crystalline waters, you’ll also find emerald oceans of shimmering pineapple and sugar cane fields waving gently in the breeze. Take a glimpse into the Hawaii of long ago as you pass remnants of old homesteads on your return to Waikiki. Be sure to bring your camera to record the marvels that gave Hawaii its name and reputation as Paradise.

Step back in time on this unforgettable and exciting adventure as we visit the historic highlights of the kingdom of Hawaii.  Traveling into the lush Nuuanu Valley, we will begin with a short ride to Queen Emma’s Summer Palace where a past era comes alive.  Next, we drive through a tropical rainforest en route to the world famous Pali Lookout where King Kamehameha the Great, on his way to unifying all the islands into one nation, defeated the forces of Oahu and Maui in 1795.  After driving through a spectacular tree tunnel we arrive at Hawaii’s sacred Royal Mausoleum, “Mauna Ala,” the final resting place of six of the kingdom’s last eight ruling monarchs.  We also visit the historic sites and grounds surrounding ‘Iolani Palace, the legendary King Kamehameha statue and unique Kawaiha’o Church, “the Westminster Abbey of Hawaii,” built from thousand-pound coral slabs.

Honolulu Academy of Arts and
the Contemporary Museum

In order to share her love of the arts with the children and people of Hawaii, Anna Rice Cooke founded the Honolulu Academy of Arts in 1927.  The museum is Hawaii’s premier art museum with a collection of over 50,000 works.  Original works of art can be experienced in state-of-the-art galleries.  Its major strengths are in European and American painting, graphic and decorative arts and the arts of Asia.

The Contemporary Museum is the only museum in the state of Hawaii devoted exclusively to contemporary art.  It provides an accessible forum for provocative, dynamic forms of visual art, offering interaction with art and artists in a unique island environment.  In addition to preserving art from 1940 to the present, the Museum also maintains and presents the historic Spalding house and gardens for the enjoyment and enrichment of Hawaii’s residents and visitors.

Exclusive Iolani Palace and
Shangri-La Tour

Your journey will begin with a short ride to Iolani Palace. A Hawaiian national treasure and the only official state residence of royalty in the United States, Iolani Palace was the official residence of the Hawaiian Kingdom's last two monarchs -- King Kalakaua, who built the Palace in 1882, and his sister and successor, Queen Lili`uokalani.

Your next stop will be at the Honolulu Academy of the Arts where you will be shown an orientation video of the Shangri-La residence and get a first peak at the treasures housed on property. From there, you will be escorted via minicoach to Diamond Head’s exclusive Black Point district, location of the estate.

International celebrity and socialite, activist and philanthropist, Miss Doris Duke, one of the wealthiest people in history created a veritable palace of treasures on the southern shore of O’ahu.
